PLANS | SIZING & FORMATTING |
---|---|
• For every 30 accepted submissions, I’ll make a printed zine to fundraise for the project. | 1. On a 3 x 5 inches (7.62 x 12.7 cm) index card. Or formatted to 3 x 5 inches. |
• Sold and traded online and at events, and placed in different locations | 2. Must not be bigger than the index card when folded or at its normal size. |
• Online version of zine and all submissions available to view for free on my website | 3. Go into as much or as little detail as you want |
• All participants who provide a mailing address will receive a FREE printed zine where their submission(s) is featured in, if accepted. | 4. A combination of visuals, words, and objects is also welcomed as long as they fit the index cards, can be easily mailed, and comfortably stored in a library card drawer. |
• Host a NYC area art show featuring card catalog & artwork made from thrifted objects attendees can interact with | |
• Selected contributors will share their work onstage and expand on their index cards | |
• A larger piece or performance art for seven minutes at most. But it must stick closely to your original index card submission(s). |
All four prompts will be linked at the bottom.
ART & WRITING | FOR A SERIES OF WORKS: |
---|---|
• Share images, drawings, comics, collages, etc., so long as it’s not of a graphically sexual or hateful nature. Nudity is fine | • You can send multiple index cards, with at most five for each prompt. |
• Abstract or symbolic is great. | • Only one subject per open call prompt from each submitter. |
• Objects are acceptable but they must be strongly affixed to the card. | • With an exception for Prompt No. 4 Building Wilcaville where folks can submit up to five subjects across a max of five cards. |
• It can be inserted in a small envelope, pouch, pocket, photo corner, etc. that is adhered to the card, and can easily be removed and placed back in. | • The top of the first card must have the title of the subject and prompt number. |
• A fastener, brad, string, or any attachment firmly secured to the card. | • In the upper right corner of every front of the card, number the series in a X of X format (such as 1 of 3, or 2 of 5) in order |
• Or a slit in the card to hold the item | • You can use the back and front, but only one side is okay. |
